First Six Weeks

Week 1
Day 1
Class Information, Safety Information, Constant Velocity - Graphical Interpretation of data using different data collection techniques; comparison of precision & accuracy of different techniques
 
Day 2
Motion of Objects-Graphical Interpretation using CBL/TI 83; Five different scenarios will be graphically & mathematically described by students
Week 2
Day 1
Chapter 2-Kinematics in One Dimension-Discussion of terms-Velocity Notes and Acceleration Notes; Quiz (students will graphically and mathematically describe the motion of objects; questions are representative of AP questions)
 
Day 2
Kinematics in One Dimension Sample Problems
 
Day 3
Problem Solving-Students will work in collaborative Groups; Students will present problem solutions to class.
 
Day 4
Problem Solving-Daily Grade; UT Homework Service problems and multiple choice questions; Homework grade.
 
Day 5
Motion in One Dimension Test
Week 3
Day 1
Balloon Cars - Students will design and build a balloon-powered car using any design of their choosing. Cars are due on this day; they will be "raced" in class. Balloons will be provided. Daily grade. Balloon Car Description

Chapter 3-Kinematics in Two Dimensions Sample Problems-Projectile Motion Notes
 
Day 3
Problem Solving-Students will work in collaborative Groups; Students will present problem solutions to class.
 
Day 4
Problem Solving-Daily Grade; UT Homework Service problems and multiple choice questions; Homework grade.
 
Day 5
Motion in Two Dimensions Test
Week 4
Day 1
Catapults - Students will design and build a catapult using any design of their choosing. Catapults will be used to launch an egg at the instructor lying on the ground. Catapults are due on this day; they will be "tested" in class. Eggs will be provided. Daily grade.
